Transfer pillar 3a: How to change your provider

Changing your pillar 3a bank is very easy. On this page, we show you how to transfer your pillar 3a to finpension.

finpension has made a name for itself as a low-cost provider of an investment solution for pillar 3a. With a flat fee of just 0.39 %, which also includes the fund costs (TER), you can invest your pillar 3a in securities with finpension.

  1. Register with finpension
  2. Download the transfer form
  3. Send the transfer form to your previous pension foundation

1. register in the app with the 3a retirement savings foundation of finpension

There are various ways to register with finpension. You can either download the finpension app to your smartphone and start the registration process there, or you can start directly via the web app.

Registration is very simple and only takes a few minutes.

PS: you can add the 3a solution from finpension in the app by clicking on the red link «+ Add product» in the overview in the app.

2. download the transfer form to transfer your pillar 3a to finpension

Have you registered? Then proceed as follows to initiate a transfer of your pillar 3a retirement savings to finpension:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Click on the «3a Retirement Savings Foundation» product on the dashboard.
  3. You are now on the portfolio. There you will see the «Deposit» button. Click on this button. (Tip: Do you already have money in the 3a Foundation from finpension? Then it is advisable to open another portfolio and make the transfer to this empty portfolio).
  4. In the next step, you will be asked whether you want to make a new deposit or a transfer. Click on «Transfer existing 3a savings».
  5. You will then be taken to the page where you can download the transfer form.

3. send the transfer form to your previous 3a retirement savings foundation

Unfortunately, it is still not possible to transfer 3a assets completely digitally. This is not due to us, but to the other foundations, which require physical and original signed receipts in order to balance 3a accounts and transfer them to another provider such as finpension. Nevertheless, a transfer is much easier than changing health insurance providers:

  • Print out the form. (If you do not have a printer or have run out of ink, we will send you the transfer form by post).
  • Complete the form by entering the details of your previous pension fund and the 3a account to be closed, and sign the form.
  • Send the form to your previous pension institution (bank-foundation or insurance company).

As soon as we receive money from your previous pension institution, we will credit it to your portfolio and inform you by e-mail.

To make it as easy as possible for you to transfer your 3a assets, we will also be happy to send you the transfer form by post. You will also receive a pre-franked envelope from us so that you can conveniently forward the transfer form to your previous pension institution.

We will notify you by e-mail as soon as we have received your 3a assets

As soon as we have received the transferred 3a assets, we will credit your 3a portfolio. We will also notify you immediately by e-mail.

If the transfer takes longer than you expected, we recommend that you contact your previous provider. This is usually due to notice periods that must be observed. Without notice periods, a transfer usually only takes a few days.
