Children‘s portfolio: Invest in ETFs from 1 franc

finpension eliminates the entry barriers and offers the first children’s portfolio in Switzerland starting at CHF 1 (without minimum fees). finpension thus makes asset accumulation with ETFs even more attractive for children.

On this page we show you how easy it is to open a children’s portfolio with finpension:

  1. Step: Open a portfolio
  2. Step: Enter a portfolio note
  3. Step: Pay into the children’s portfolio
  4. Step: Transfer the portfolio to your child

Advantage: Long investment horizon

The long period until your (newborn) children, godchildren or grandchildren come of age is ideal for investing in securities. You can take the usual fluctuations in share prices in your stride. In the long term, a finpension fund savings account will give your young fellows the chance of a significantly higher “starting balance” than a youth savings account at a bank. Fund savings plans from banks are also not recommended because they are generally far too expensive.

Step 1: Open a portfolio

Have you already opened a portfolio that you would like to use for your child? Then you can proceed directly to the second step. Otherwise, read on directly.

A) Register in the app (for new customers)

Register in the finpension app by selecting the “Invest assets” product. You can download the app to your smartphone or start directly with the web app. Both ways lead to the same destination.

Important: You must register as an adult. Following registration, an ID check is required.

B) Add the “Invest assets” product (for existing customers who already use another finpension product)

In the app, you can easily add the finpension investment solution by clicking on the red “+ Add product” link on the dashboard and then selecting the “Invest assets” product.

C) If required, open another portfolio for your child (for existing customers who have already opened the finpension investment solution)

If you have already opened the finpension investment solution, you can use the first portfolio directly for your child or open an additional portfolio. You can have up to 10 portfolios in total with finpension.

Step 2: Enter a portfolio note

Now add a note to the portfolio. To do this, go to the desired portfolio and then click on the context menu (the three dots). There you will find the “Portfolio name” function. Enter the name of your child or your godchild, godfather or grandchild.

Use the “Portfolio name” function for children’s portfolios

Good to know: The portfolio remains in your name even with a note. You remain the owner of the portfolio and continue to have sole access rights. You can also adjust or delete the note at any time.

Step 3: Pay into the children’s portfolio

Pay into the children’s portfolio once or regularly with a standing order (savings plan). The deposit is automatically invested by us in the investment strategy you have chosen. If dividends accrue, these are automatically reinvested as part of the next rebalancing.

At the end of the year, you will receive a free e-tax statement from us for your tax return. This will automatically include your children’s accounts.

Step 4: Transfer the portfolio to your child

As soon as your child, godchild or grandchild comes of age, they can open a portfolio with finpension themselves. You can then instruct us to transfer the securities positions to the child. Alternatively, you can arrange for the securities to be liquidated and transfer the amount to your child in cash. Both are free of charge.
